Home Reno Blog - Almost Done

After 2 days of long, tiring, break breaking, muscle aching cleaning and scrubbing the house finally showing it's true colors :)

Let's start with the living room...

Blinds and air-cond installed.

All the lights working. What a relief!

The door finally in placed :)

View from the edge of the dining area.

Curtain installed for the sliding door and bamboo blind on the outside.

Blinds in the kitchen area with the green theme. Just have to wait another day for the kitchen cabinet to arrive :(

The guess room gets a purple blind treatment.

Blue for the boy and pink for the girl :)

Blue blinds for the son.

Pink blinds for the daughter.

The polycarbonate awning view during the day.

We went for the dark down color for the awning, still plenty of lights coming through.

View from the master bedroom looking down on the new main entrance.

Another view of the awning.

This is how it looks like now. Need to put up some kind of wall treatment to fill in the empty space.

Front entrance with the dirty tiles :) Need lots of scrubbing job after this.

A lot of garbage to be disposed!

By now we have moved most of the stuff from the old house to the new house. Just to tired to snap more photos today. Can't wait for tomorrow's cabinet installation. Will update more soon! :)

Home Reno Blog - Ceiling & Floor

Night time update :) Didn't get a chance to take the picture earlier this evening so ended up taking all these photos using flash. So here goes....

The dark brown polycarbonate awning already installed.

Concealed air-cond and electrical wiring already filled up with white plaster and sanded. Ready for touch up paint job.

Testing out the down light to assess the brightness during night time. Seems good enough, so no need to add additional lights.

In the kitchen area, the piping for washing machine already done and the tiles has been installed. So now the floor is even from the dry to the wet kitchen area.

All the plaster ceiling installation completed and painted. Can proceed with lights and fan installation.

No lights yet for the guest room. Still thinking if 2 down lights is enough for this area.

Auto gate installed with gate light integration, so now we can turn the gate light on and off with the remote. :)

According to the contractor they can start the door installation tomorrow. Hopefully everything will go smoothly as planned.

Home Reno Blog - Masonry work

Okay, another update for today... more on the heavy stuff renovation work :)

Yeah you guess right, it's the main door! :)

Now you see it... now you don't!

We decided to move the main door to the the left (where the lanai window is now) to free up some space in the living room.

In the kitchen, the current tiles are removed to level off the wet kitchen and dry kitchen area.
Also to run piping from the main pipe for washing machine use.

Upstairs we extended the roof to cover the area soon be the main entrance.

You can see the scaffolding used by the contractor to put up the roof.

Almost finished. Need to put up the ceiling and cover the area to the right with zinc.

Hacking done for concealed air-cond piping in the master bedroom.

Same goes for the other 2 bedrooms.

Home Reno Blog - Lighting Part 1

Wiring on the second floor is done, just need some minor touch up on the walls and plaster ceiling. Since the electrician is still around so we decided to ask him to install a few wall lights, fans, down lights and T5 fluorescent lamps for extra lights where needed.

Let's see what was accomplished today...

Wall lights for the stairs

Wall light and fan for second level family area.

Down lights, fan and T5 light in 3rd bedroom.

Down lights, fan and T5 light in 2nd bedroom.

Down lights and fan with light in master bedroom.

Another T5 for additional lights.

View from master bedroom balcony.

Still thinking about what kind of light should be put to light up the balcony, thinking of energy saving outdoor flood light to put up near the roof line.

Now let's go downstairs and see the unfinished business below :)

Added more wiring for down lights and rear surround speakers (to be mounted on the ceiling)

Wall fan and T5 light in the kitchen.

Just fan in the guest room. Need to get more T5 lights tomorrow :)

Wiring completed for auto gate.

Cute little gate lights (can't hardly see it in the pictures), with wiring for auto gate motor for the the left and right pillar.

No more ugly white patch-up plaster works in the walls, the developer actually repainted the walls! Good job so far.

Note to self : Clear this area before moving in! :P
